Candy and Clinton flyerBirmingham, AL–When acoustic soul meets rhythm and blues, nothing can compare to the rich and soulful sounds created by a union only shared from the heart of a musical mastermind. It’s within that union that you’ll find a rare artist like Clinton Babers.

Fresh off the heels of a whirlwind tour with the Joe Brooks Trio in Asia, Clinton Babers is poised to take the stage for two dynamic shows in Birmingham, the city he calls home. Babers is set to command the mic and woo the crowd on Friday, May 31 at 8pm at the Discovery Alabama Event Center (4500 Alabama Adventure Parkway, Bessemer, AL) alongside Candy West and 5th Element. He is also going to share his musical mastery alongside celebrated artist PJ Morton at 8pm on Thursday, June 6th at Work Play Theatre (500 23rd Street South).

Unlike anything you’ve ever heard before, Alabama native, Babers’ raw and unparalleled talent is undeniable. He has completed tours in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Asia. Also a part of the BET Music Matters Campaign, Babers is taking his musical artistry from the small town to big stages across the globe. “He’s one of the most talented artists I’ve seen in years” exclaims Tyrese Gibson, R&B Superstar. Skilled on 17 different instruments, Babers will wow fans and gain new ones with his artistry and musicianship.

After working and performing with artists like Leon Timbo, Tyrese Gibson, Kerry Marshall, Sebastian Kole, Joe Brooks, and Tyrone Wells for years, Babers finally released his own body of work entitled “I’m Open (The Journey to Learning The REAL Me).” “I’m Open” tells a vivid story of a boy who’s grown into a man, while navigating experiences like love, heartache, joy, and triumph.  “My inspiration comes from what I relate to, have seen and have experienced,” Babers said about the project. For Babers, music is clearly a matter of the heart. “I didn’t choose music. Music chose me. This is what God purposed me to do,” said Babers.

Clinton Babers has a smile as infectious as his sound. He’s a singer, writer, producer, arranger and musician that is not afraid of the front stage or the background. Defined as “one to watch and hear” Clinton Babers is on the cusp of lasting superstardom transforming the world of music one sweet note at a time.

ChakaMintConditionx600 The Icon Chaka Khan with special guest Mint Condition will kick off Mother’s Day Weekend with a special concert on Friday, May 10, 2013 at Fair Park Arena.

Chaka Khan (born Yvette Marie Stevens; March 23, 1953), frequently known as the “Queen of Funk-Soul“, is a 10-time Grammy Award winning American singer-songwriter whose career has spanned four decades, beginning with fame in the 1970s as the frontwoman and focal point of the funk band Rufus.

While still a member of the group in 1978, Khan embarked on a successful solo career. Her signature hits, both with Rufus and as a solo performer, include “Tell Me Something Good”, “Sweet Thing” which she wrote for her then husband Richard Holland, “Ain’t Nobody”, “I’m Every Woman”, “I Feel for You” and “Through the Fire”.

Mint Condition is an R&B band from Saint Paul, Minnesota. Formed in the late 1980s, its original members were Stokley Williams (lead vocals, drums, percussion), Ricky Kinchen (bass guitar), Homer O’Dell (guitar), Larry Waddell (keyboards, piano), Keri Lewis (keyboards, synthesizer), and Jeffrey Allen (saxophone, keyboards). Currently, this line-up remains intact, with the exception of Lewis, who left the group to produce for other artists. The group is well known for its highly diverse musical style (able to play anything from traditional jazz stylings to mainstream R&B and rock-based music to funk grooves and even Latin and Jamaican-based rhythms) and also its captivating live performances. The band is also well known for their well written and produced R&B ballads, mainly in the 1990s. They mostly known for their hits “Breakin’ My Heart (Pretty Brown Eyes)” (1991) and “What Kind of Man Would I Be” (1996). By popular vote, the group was inducted into The SoulMusic Hall Of Fame at SoulMusic.com in December 2012.

Tickets for this show are on sale now for $55, $62 and $70 at www.magiccitytix.com
