IMMEDIATE PRESS RELEASE

Excel Entertainment Group presents: Contemporary Gospel
Artist Whitney Mitchell in concert at The Guiding Light Church
July 6th, 2012

Excel Entertainment Group is proud to present John Lennon Award winner and notably known,
Whitney Mitchell, in concert on July 6th, 2012 at 7 p.m. at The Guiding Light Church located at
1800 John Rogers Drive, Birmingham, Alabama. This is a Free Event.

Singer, songwriter, and musician Whitney Mitchell is on a mission. The former lead vocalist
for the Neo Jazz Collective band has made it clear her goal in life is to declare her love for God
through the application of music. A recipient of the J. L. Lowe Music Scholarship and former
student of Dr. Frank Adams and the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame, Whitney now steps to the stage
as a solo artist making her official venture into the gospel music industry. The Birmingham area
native singer, songwriter, and musician is unleashing her contemporary gospel debut entitled
My Heart Cries Out For You. Walking easily from pop to rock to R&B tracks, Whitney provides a
strong dose of inspiration from one song to the next.

My Heart Cries Out For You is an 11-track project filled with a mixture of jazz, R&B and pop
styles, yet it is fully gospel. The title tune and Lennon award winning inspirational cut finds the
artist singing about her determination and heart to cry out for the Lord, no matter what. It’s
clear that this singer will make sure that nothing will ever stop her love for the Lord.

Whitney wants people going away not only feeling good, but with a deepened appreciation of
music and its impact on creating positive change for the Lord.

USTA Offers FREE Tennis Membership for Birmingham Youth 10 Years & Under

Tennis is one of the best ways for kids to become healthy and physically fit. Through its 10 AND UNDER TENNIS Program, The United States Tennis Association (USTA) is making tennis available to Birmingham youth.  They are currently offering a FREE 1-year junior membership for kids 10 years old and under.  This offer is open to all new to the USTA until December 31, 2012.

What is 10 and Under Tennis?

10 and Under Tennis follows the same logic as other youth sports like baseball or soccer, which use kid-sized courts and kid-sized equipment.  Now with 10 and Under Tennis, balls bounce lower, don’t move as fast through the air and are easier to hit. Kids’ tennis racquets are sized for small hands and courts are smaller and easier to cover.  By using this format, the benefits are immediate and within a short time kids are rallying, playing, and excited to keep playing. That means kids will have more fun and less frustration. They’re playing real tennis and having real fun—and that’s what is most important.

Interested in registering your child for the 10 AND UNDER TENNIS membership? There are three ways to register:

1)         Fill out the attached membership form and mail to:

2012 marks the 38th year that the Kappa Alpha Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. has been located at The University of Alabama.  Since the chapter was chartered in 1974, the alumni brothers of the chapter has kept in touch with one another and will be in Birmingham, Alabama celebrating a special reunion.  In fact, it is a “38 Special Reunion”!
It’s special for two reasons, one it’s in Birmingham instead of Tuscaloosa, and two we want you to be a part of it.
The fun times that we all shared during our college days included our friends at the university. Especially the parties at the frat house on Bryce Lawn.  Now is the time to reminisce about those college days that swiftly passed, full of memories.  Do you remember parties at the frat house, the Party Barn, step shows at the dorm, and just hanging out?  If so, please come to the Old School Party that will be Saturday, June 23rd at The Parthenon located at 2210 First Avenue North in the loft district of downtown Birmingham.
This will be the first big event of the summer.  You don’t want to miss it.
