L’ Adeen presented Undressed, a stylish and sexy showcase of swimwear and more on Friday, April 8, 2011 – The event was held on the rooftop of Alley Station and thanks to the Almighty himself the weather was perfect with a slight breeze to help the audience cool down during the hot scenes of this sexy show. The show featured a cast of great looking models, awesome designs and an ambiance that was pretty magical.
The show was hosted by the lovely Kenyetta “Sway” Smiley from Sway’s Way Modeling Group and those cool brothers from Culture Shock. The show started off with an attention grabbing choreographed scene as models came out and ripped off t-shirts leaving them in nude underwear. The show featured a great display of fashion from L’Adeen, Charles Andrews “Dark Diva”, Raunchy Clothing by Soso Ebadan, Celebrity Stylist J. Bolin and custom designed shoes from Tyler Bailey.
Memorable moments: When a member of Culture Shock called Sway to the Runway to show us how it’s done; the really nice programs designed like high profile fashion magazines; of course each designer left an impression with the audience through their individual high energy and sexy presentations.
Spotted in the Crowd: Business man Greg Calhoun of Calhoun Enterprises and magazine publisher Nicole Means from Alabama Spotlight Magazine.
Congratulations to Lisa Porter on such a great event and we are certainly looking forward to the next one.

‘The Fourth Annual “Sway’s Way Modeling” ALLURE OF STYLE Fashion Show entitled; “SWAY’S ANGELS” is Bound to Showcase the area’s most Heavenly Bodies
If we were all like angels, the world would be a heavenly place. ~Author Unknown
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – On Sunday, August 22, 2010 Sway’s Way Modeling Agency will once again host the single most anticipated fashion event in the River Region. For years now, the Allure of Style fashion extravaganza has captured the imagination of the area’s most ambitious fashion designers, aspiring models, sought after photographers, and anticipating on-lookers.
Now, for the fourth and most exciting show of all, Sway’s Way founder Kenyetta Smiley is bringing the Montgomery area another taste of exquisite fashion – this time with an ‘angelic’ appeal. Smiley conceptualizes all of the themes to her annual fashion shows. From 2008’s Asian inspired “Shanghai Nights” theme complete with Geisha girls and traditional Asian garb, to last year’s exciting Mardi Gras in Montgomery theme complete with beads, masks, and a full marching band, Smiley said she is always pushing the limits of creativity for her productions.
“This year’s theme is an angelic one, of course, based loosely on the theme of Victoria Secret’s ‘Angels’ collection,” Smiley said. “I want the ambiance to be very clean, light, soft – heavenly, in the sense that although there will be beautiful people, wearing gorgeous attire, it’s still radiant.” Smiley said her shows are always a mix of cutting edge fashion, make-up, and hair, but although the Sway’s Way cast carry’s the show, her main concern is making sure the audience has a wonderful evening.
“I owe it to the people who continually come out, year after year to support this production to put on the best show I possibly can. I don’t take it for granted that people are going to spend their hard earned money to come out and support this fashion show,” Smiley said. “I take the production, marketing, and professionalism of this show very seriously. This is not your run-of-the-mill, thrown together fashion show. Allure of Style stands out for a reason. Months of planning go into this effort and at the end of the day it shows.”
Last year, more than 1,000 people came out to witness this amazing display of fashion and splendor as designers from Montgomery, Birmingham, Atlanta, and New Orleans, displayed their latest wears on the runway. This year, designers including Perry Varner (DenHim and Leather), Willie Shanks of Birmingham, and will have their fashions flaunted by more than 30 of the most experienced male and female models from Atlanta, Miami, New Orleans and Alabama, along with scores of stylists, make-up artists, and designers.

The National Center for the Study of Civil Rights and African-American Culture at Alabama State University will display the exhibit “The Dream Continues,” featuring images by the Birmingham Art Association and Marcella Hayes Muhammad, from June 13 through Oct. 29. The opening reception for the exhibit will be held Sunday, June 13, from 3 to 5 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
Muhammad is an award-winning artist, recognized for her elegant style, intricate detail and vibrant colors. Her work reflects the moods, emotions and beauty she experiences around her in everyday life. In addition to her original oil paintings, Muhammad is recognized for her popular licensed art series of “Ladies With Hats.” She uses realism, still life, abstraction, impressionism and her own style named “Plastic Space” to convey her message.
“With Plastic Space, I can explore the curvature of light and space around familiar objects,” she said. “The fluid use of light, shadow and balance captivate and engage the eye as if moving at light speed around three dimensional objects. Using this style, I can marry the heritage and traditions of the past and the beauty of the present into contemporary images that transcend time and culture.”
Muhammad has exhibited her work in schools, museums and galleries throughout the country. In 2002, Muhammad’s work became part of Hampton University Museum’s “New Power Generation, A National Juried Exhibition of African-American Art.” Her work was housed in the very same building which houses the great Henry O. Tanner masterpieces, among other notables.
Muhammad earned her BFA with honors from the California State University at San Bernardino. She also studied at the California College of Art and Design at Oakland and the University of California at Riverside. Her formal training and extensive experience gives her an extraordinary command of style and media that few artists possess. In 1995, after a successful career in elementary education, Muhammad relocated to Georgia, founded Maruva Studio and dedicated herself to painting full-time.
The National Center for the Study of Civil Rights and African-American Culture at ASU is located at 1345 Carter Hill Road. For more information, call 334-229-4876 or 334-229-4824.
