gamepromo1.11.11 – That is the date that many people, young and old, black and white, rich and poor have been waiting for!  The Game, which returns to television on Tuesday, January 11, 2011, will be well received by fans that fought to get the show back on the air.

BET heard the cry and will bring the show back to television this winter.  Currently fans have turned to reruns to temporarily satisfy their cravings for the popular show but with such an abrupt ending viewers felt like there had to be completion to the story.

I too much admit that I find the wide range of personalities of this show interesting and funny.  The Game’s creator Mara Brock Akil and producer Kelsey Grammer who we all know from the popular Cheers series and Frasier have found a away to tap into urban culture with a show that reaches across the isle of diversity.

The Game which originally aired October 1, 2006 on the CW pokes fun at professional football players and their off the field issues.  The show stars Tia Mowry Hardrict, Brittany Daniel, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Pooch Hall, Coby Bell and Hosea Chanchez.  All six original cast members have returned to the show which is set to take place two years after the last episode.

After three seasons, the series was canceled by the CW in May of 2009. Subsequently, BET struck a deal with The Game’s parent company CBS to develop new episodes of the series.

The Game was a spin off from the Girlfriends television series which also aired for eight years on UPN and the CW.

I thought my eyes and ears had deceived me as I watched the proud African American Director Roger Ross Williams run up towards the stage to accept his first Oscar for Music by Prudence. Unfortunately, before he could get well into his speech Elinor Burkett pulled the classic Kanye move as she took over the mic.

prudence

The story behind the stunt:

The two have been fighting for a year; there was a lawsuit about the creative control of the film that was settled out of court. Ms. Burkett, who lives in Zimbabwe, where the movie was shot, claims she gave Mr. Williams the idea for the project, a charge he disputes. In any case they didn’t talk in advance to determine who would be the one person to come onstage to accept the award. (The Academy allows only one person to speak.)

Well I be damned!!! LOL. I think we are now even! They seem to give Taylor Swift ALL the awards after Kanye West barged in on her acceptance speech so I’m thinking this should make us even! lol

Lisa BonetAmerica’s favorite Cosby kid Lisa Bonet returns to prime time television in the new ABC television series Life on Mars.  Bonet has been cast as Maya Daniels, the love interest of the shows main character NYPD Detective Sam Tyler (Jason O’Mara).

Life on Mars is an Emmy-winning British science fiction and police drama television series. It was first broadcast on BBC One between January 2006 and April 2007.  The program with an American twist tells the story of officer Sam Tyler of the NYPD, who, after being hit by a car finds himself in the year 1973. There, he works for the NYPD in his same department but under a new boss played by actor Harvey Keitel.  Over the course of the series, Tyler faces various culture clashes, most frequently regarding the differences between his modern approach to policing and the more traditional methods of his colleagues. Mixing the genres of science fiction and police procedural, the series centers around the ambiguity concerning Tyler’s predicament: it is unclear whether he is insane, in a coma, or if he really has traveled back in time. Fishburne to join CSI cast

Laurence FishbourneAward winning actor Laurence Fishburne will join the cast of the popular CSI:Crime Scene Investigation television series around the ninth episode of the 2008 fall season.  Fishburne will replace actor William Petersen where he will meet with the CSI team as a college lecturer and former pathologist who focuses on violent crime.  Fishburne will eventually join the team as a weekly and well received addition to the team.  While information of this addition has not been listed on the CSI website it seems this season we will simply get an introduction to the character and give the fans an opportunity to settle with the departure of Grissom as the series goes into the 2009 season.

Fans have expressed concern about the future of the show with the exit of Peterson and Gary Dourdon (Warrick) which means CSI producers needed a heavy hitter to keep the shows loyal audience in tact. The CSI shows have brought a certain edge to prime time television and securing an actor such as Fishburne will certainly give the writers a boost of creativity.  Other television series like the popular ER have made similar adjustments such as the casting of award winning actress Angela Bassett as a regular character for its final season.  Wait a minute … that’s Ike and Tina!

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation season premiere is set to air October 9th, 2008.  The first episode will also feature Jorja Fox in a returning role as Sarah Siddle.
