The City of Birmingham Mayor’s Office Division of Youth Services (DYS) recognizes the importance of summer enrichment.  In an effort to encourage Birmingham youth to continue learning throughout the summer break, DYS announces its Youth First Summer Movie Series.

DYS will kick-off its summer of movie fun on June 16, 2012 with a special screening of Madagascar 3.

Birmingham youth and youth service providers who meet one of the criteria listed below, can earn a FREE ticket for themselves and a guest.

Participation Criteria:

  • Operate or lead Birmingham youth in a structured enrichment program (for youth service providers only)
  • Must participate in a summer enrichment program in the City of Birmingham this summer (must show proof of enrollment)

OR

  • Present a book report on one book that you have read this summer (use attached Book Form).  Book reports must be in the child’s handwriting.  For children six and under, parents may fill out the Book Form on the book they read to their child this summer.

Beginning today, parents/guardians may bring their submissions to DYS between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM.  Organization leaders (Executive Directors, School Principals, Pastors, Coaches, etc.) can call DYS at 205-320-0879 between 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM to reserve tickets for the youth they serve.  The deadline to submit is Thursday, June 14, 2012 at 4:00 PM. Tickets will be dispersed on a first-come, first-served basis until all tickets have been disseminated.

For Organization Leaders:  Up to twenty (20) tickets may be reserved per organization. In an effort to accommodate as many groups as possible, organizations may register only once this summer.

No email or fax requests will be accepted.
