DESCRIPTION:BIRMINGHAM\, AL — Southern hip-hop is getting the orchestral treatment when legendary rap duo 8Ball & MJG and UGK’s Bun B join The Renaissance Orchestra for a special black-tie concert at the BJCC Concert Hall on Friday\, November 6\, 2026. \nShowtime is 8 p.m.\, and the BJCC officially describes the evening as a Black-Tie Event. \nSouthern Hip-Hop Meets the Orchestra\nFor longtime Southern hip-hop fans\, this is definitely not your typical concert. \nMemphis legends 8Ball & MJG helped establish the sound of Southern rap long before the South became the dominant force it is today. Their catalog includes fan favorites such as “Space Age Pimpin’” and “You Don’t Want Drama\,” while their 2004 album Living Legends further cemented their place in Southern hip-hop history. \nJoining them will be Houston legend Bun B\, one-half of the influential duo UGK (Underground Kingz). \nWhat makes this show particularly interesting is The Renaissance Orchestra\, which brings live orchestral instrumentation into the hip-hop experience. Birmingham audiences will get an opportunity to see the orchestra on its own at the Lyric Theatre on September 25 before it returns in November to provide the musical backdrop for 8Ball & MJG and Bun B.
