DESCRIPTION:BIRMINGHAM\, Ala. – One of Birmingham’s most anticipated social experiences is making its return this fall as Dîner en Blanc Birmingham celebrates its 7th edition on Saturday\, September 12\, 2026. Once again\, more than 1\,000 guests dressed entirely in white will gather at a secret location for an unforgettable evening inspired by the elegance and traditions of Paris. \n \nThis year’s celebration continues to raise the bar with the announcement that Grammy Award-winning singer Chrisette Michele will perform live while acclaimed Birmingham chef joins the experience as the featured culinary talent. Together\, the two additions promise to make the 2026 edition one of the most memorable in the event’s history. \n \nKnown for showcasing Birmingham’s culinary excellence\, organizers have selected Chef Lamar Lockett to help create an elevated dining experience that reflects this year’s international theme\, “Une Soirée Parisienne – La Belle Époque.” The theme celebrates one of Paris’ most elegant eras\, encouraging guests to embrace timeless all-white fashion while enjoying exceptional cuisine\, conversation\, and entertainment beneath the stars. \nOne of the traditions that makes Dîner en Blanc unlike any other event is the mystery surrounding its location. Guests first gather at designated departure points before being escorted by volunteers to the undisclosed venue. Throughout the evening\, signature moments such as the iconic Napkin Wave and the sparkling sendoff create an atmosphere of celebration that has helped make the event a global phenomenon. \nParticipants are asked to follow several long-standing traditions\, including wearing an all-white ensemble and bringing white tables\, chairs\, linens\, dinnerware\, and décor. Guests may either pack their own gourmet picnic or reserve catered meals and rental equipment through the event’s online store. In keeping with its French heritage\, wine and Champagne are served\, while guests are also welcome to bring non-alcoholic beverages. The event also maintains a strong commitment to sustainability by asking every attendee to leave the venue exactly as they found it. \nDîner en Blanc Birmingham is hosted by Jasmine Allen\, who returns alongside Lynnette Favors to welcome guests for another year of elegance and celebration. Allen describes this year’s experience as “elegance in motion—timeless\, luminous\, and unapologetically French\,” capturing the spirit of the 2026 theme and the atmosphere guests can expect. \nOriginally launched in Paris\, Dîner en Blanc has grown into an international cultural phenomenon spanning more than 120 cities across 40 countries\, bringing communities together through fashion\, food\, entertainment\, and unforgettable shared experiences. \nGuests interested in attending are encouraged to join the Birmingham Fan List to receive updates and notification when Phase 3 registration becomes available. SUMMARY:Let’s Build Birmingham II Returns With Focus on Real Estate Ownership\, Development and Generational Wealth (September 18 - 19)
DESCRIPTION:BIRMINGHAM\, AL — As redevelopment continues to reshape neighborhoods throughout Birmingham\, an upcoming two-day conference is looking to make sure everyday people have an opportunity to participate in that growth—not simply watch it happen. \nLet’s Build Birmingham II: The National Real Estate Development Conference will take place September 18–19\, 2026\, at Boutwell Auditorium in downtown Birmingham. \nNow in its second year\, the conference is expected to bring together hundreds of investors\, developers\, contractors\, builders\, entrepreneurs\, lenders\, real estate professionals and people who simply want to learn how to get started in real estate. \nThe central message behind the event is straightforward: ownership\, opportunity and generational wealth. \nAccording to organizers\, attendees will receive practical education on finding and purchasing land\, acquiring tax and auction properties\, building new construction\, understanding zoning and permitting\, securing financing and working with architects\, builders\, contractors and lenders. (Luma) \nParticipants will also learn about income-producing real estate strategies ranging from traditional development to furnished rentals\, Airbnb properties\, truck parking and group homes. Organizers say no previous real estate experience is required. (Luma) \n \nWhy This Matters for Birmingham \nWhat makes Let’s Build Birmingham particularly timely is what is happening throughout the city. \nBirmingham continues to wrestle with vacant\, abandoned and tax-delinquent properties while simultaneously experiencing new investment and redevelopment. The Birmingham Land Bank Authority was specifically established to return vacant and abandoned property to productive use\, reduce blight\, stabilize neighborhoods and encourage redevelopment. (Birmingham Land Bank Authority) \nThe City of Birmingham has also made neighborhood revitalization and affordable housing major priorities. Its 2026 legislative agenda calls for additional tools to return abandoned properties to productive use and help longtime residents remain in their communities as redevelopment occurs. (City of Birmingham) \nThat creates both an opportunity and an important question: \nWho will own the Birmingham of the future? \nThere are properties that need rehabilitation. There are vacant lots capable of supporting new construction. There are neighborhoods positioned for additional investment. And there are Birmingham residents who may have the desire to participate but don’t necessarily understand how to move from an idea to actually acquiring property\, obtaining financing\, navigating zoning and permits\, hiring contractors and completing a development. \nThat is where education becomes important. \nMoving From Consumer to Owner \nFor Birmingham’s Black community in particular\, conversations surrounding real estate can also be conversations about generational wealth. \nNationally\, the Black homeownership rate continues to trail the White homeownership rate significantly\, and historical barriers including redlining and discriminatory lending have contributed to today’s wealth gap. Birmingham itself has been at the center of recent federal action involving allegations of mortgage redlining in majority-Black neighborhoods. (The Washington Post) \nAt the same time\, Birmingham remains attractive to real estate investors because property can still be comparatively affordable relative to many larger American markets. \nThat combination makes it increasingly important for local residents to understand real estate not only from the perspective of buying a home\, but also owning land\, developing property and participating in the economic growth of their own neighborhoods. \nThe objective shouldn’t simply be watching outside investors recognize Birmingham’s potential before the people who already live here do. \nMore Than Classroom Education \nOrganizers say Let’s Build Birmingham II is designed to move beyond the traditional conference experience. \nAttendees can expect live development case studies\, ground-up construction education\, financing and lending workshops\, access to experienced builders and developers\, networking opportunities and real-world examples of redevelopment taking place around Birmingham. SUMMARY:Irondale Celebrates 139 Years with FREE Music Fest Featuring The Tony Tatum Experience
DESCRIPTION:IRONDALE\, AL — The City of Irondale is getting ready to celebrate its 139th birthday in a big way with an afternoon of live music\, food and community at Irondale Music Fest 2026\, presented by Mayor James D. Stewart Jr. \nThe FREE celebration takes place Saturday\, September 26\, at Beacon Park\, 5309 Beacon Drive in Irondale. Gates open at 3 p.m.\, with the show beginning at 4 p.m. The event runs until 7 p.m. and admission is free. \nThe Tony Tatum Experience Headlines a Strong Lineup\nHeadlining this year’s celebration is The Tony Tatum Experience\, and this won’t be a scaled-down performance. Tatum is bringing his full 12-piece band to Beacon Park for the celebration. \nThose who attended I Love Irondale Day earlier this summer may remember Tatum bringing plenty of energy to the stage. For Music Fest\, he’s returning with an even bigger show. \nBut the music doesn’t stop there. \n \nThe festival lineup also includes violinist Dominique Hammons\, whose high-energy performances bring the violin into the worlds of R&B\, jazz\, soul and contemporary music. \nAdding some HBCU flavor to the celebration will be the Alabama A&M University Choir\, bringing the rich vocal tradition of one of Alabama’s historic HBCUs to the Irondale stage. \nBirmingham-area flutist Sherry Reeves will also perform\, adding another dimension to an afternoon designed to showcase a variety of musical styles and sounds. \nAnd keeping the music moving throughout the celebration will be DJ Maverick (Willie Hudgins)\, another familiar face at Irondale community events. \nIt’s a lineup that gives you a little bit of everything—live band energy\, strings\, vocals\, jazz influences and a DJ keeping the party going. \nBring Your Lawn Chairs — and Your Appetite\nIrondale Music Fest is designed to be more than just a concert. It’s a community birthday party\, so bring your lawn chairs\, find a comfortable spot and plan to spend the afternoon. \nThere will also be plenty to eat. Food vendors announced for the festival include Eugene’s Hot Chicken\, AJ’s Lemonade\, Dream Flavors\, GeGe’s Tasty Cakes\, Good Ole DAWGS\, My Planet Punches\, Signature Grille and The DIRTY RED. \nParking will be available at “The Hill” at Grants Mill Station\, with shuttle service provided to Beacon Park. Small coolers and clear bags are allowed; however\, outside food is not permitted. \nUrbanham Has Been Watching What’s Happening in Irondale\nIf you’ve been following Urbanham\, you already know that we’ve been keeping an eye on Irondale. \nEarlier this year\, we published “We REALLY Like What’s Going On In Irondale” after spending some time in the city and getting a closer look at its community events and economic-development vision. \nWhat caught our attention wasn’t simply one project or one event. It was the combination of community engagement\, quality-of-life initiatives and major economic development happening at the same time. \nAnd Irondale hasn’t slowed down. \nEarlier this month\, the city hosted Cruise-In Cinema\, combining a car show with an outdoor showing of Furious 7. The September 11 event featured free admission\, free popcorn\, food and drink vendors and a Best in Show competition. \nEvents like Cruise-In Cinema and Music Fest are giving residents something to do while also giving people from throughout the Birmingham metro another reason to come into Irondale. \n“One City. One Billion.”\nAll of this is happening alongside Mayor Stewart’s ambitious vision for Irondale’s future. \nThe city’s “One City. One Billion.” initiative is centered around attracting $1 billion in investment by 2033\, with economic development\, residential growth and quality-of-life improvements helping drive that strategy. \nThat’s a big number—but some equally big projects are beginning to make that vision feel much more tangible. \nOne of the most talked-about developments is the arrival of Costco\, a project expected to significantly expand Irondale’s retail footprint while attracting shoppers from throughout the Birmingham metro and beyond. \nAnd now there’s another major development to watch. \n$30 Million Golf House Alabama Coming to Irondale\nThe Alabama Golf Foundation recently purchased approximately 80 acres next to Pine Tree Golf & Country Club for the development of Golf House Alabama\, a statewide golf destination that will bring several of Alabama’s golf organizations together in one location and become home to the new Alabama Golf Hall of Fame. \nThe foundation is raising funds toward a $30 million goal for the first phase\, with construction expected to begin in November 2026 and the facility targeted to open in 2028. Combined with the neighboring Pine Tree Golf & Country Club property\, the investment encompasses approximately 363 acres. \nAnd this isn’t simply office space. \nPlans include a 30-bay hitting area with TrackMan technology\, championship-caliber par-3 course\, short-game practice area\, outdoor event lawn\, instructional areas and an Agronomy and Careers Center affiliated with Auburn University. \nMayor Stewart has connected the Golf House project directly to Irondale’s larger vision of becoming a destination city rather than simply a community people pass through. \nThat’s an important distinction. \nRetail brings people into a city. Recreation brings people into a city. Entertainment brings people into a city. Community events bring people into a city. \nPut them together\, and you begin creating a destination. \n \nCome for the Music — Keep Watching Irondale\nThat’s what makes Irondale Music Fest 2026 interesting beyond what happens on the stage. \nIrondale is celebrating 139 years of history while simultaneously making some pretty ambitious plans for its future. \nFrom community events like Cruise-In Cinema and Music Fest to major projects involving Costco and Golf House Alabama\, Irondale is giving residents—and the rest of the Birmingham metro—more reasons to pay attention. \nBut on Saturday\, September 26\, economic development can take a back seat for a few hours. \nBring your lawn chair\, grab something good to eat and enjoy The Tony Tatum Experience\, Dominique Hammons\, the Alabama A&M University Choir\, Sherry Reeves and DJ Maverick as Irondale celebrates its 139th birthday. \nIRONDALE MUSIC FEST 2026Saturday\, September 26\, 20263 p.m.–7 p.m. | Gates Open at 3 p.m. | Show Starts at 4 p.m.Beacon Park | 5309 Beacon Drive | Irondale\, AL 35210Admission: FREE \nUrbanham.com will continue watching what’s happening in Irondale as the city works toward its vision for 2033. That kind of draw brings: \n\nHotel bookings\nRestaurant traffic\nIncreased visibility for local businesses\n\nMore importantly\, it reinforces how music and culture can serve as a unifying force across communities. \nMore Than Just a Festival \nWhat makes the Wiregrass Heritage Festival stand out is its consistency. Year after year\, it delivers an experience that feels familiar but continues to grow. \nIt’s where: \n\nSouthern Soul fans show up in full force\nFriends and families gather\nMusic\, laughter\, and culture all meet in one space\n\nFinal Word \nFor those looking to close out September with good music and good energy\, Dothan will once again be the place to be. \nThe Wiregrass Heritage Festival isn’t trying to be anything complicated — and that’s exactly why it works. \nIt’s simple:\n👉 Good music.\n👉 Good people.\n👉 A good time. \n🎟️ Tickets and event details:\nwww.WiregrassHeritageFestival.com
