DESCRIPTION:Thousands of women from Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority\, Inc. will gather in Birmingham for the 94th South Eastern Regional Conference\, scheduled for April 29 through May 2\, 2026. The conference will welcome members from across AKA’s South Eastern Region—Alabama\, Mississippi\, and Tennessee—with attendance expected to reach into the thousands as sorority sisters from across the three-state region arrive in the Magic City for several days of sisterhood\, service\, and celebration. \nAs conference like this one visit the areas attendees are often looking for ways to unwind after full days of programming. Pink Skies\, hosted by Phaith “DJ Chocolate” Frazier\, is one of those experiences. \nPositioned as an unofficial nightcap for conference attendees\, Pink Skies is open not only to sorority members but to anyone seeking a night filled with good music and elevated energy at one of the city’s signature rooftop atmospheres. DJ Chocolate\, a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority\, Inc.\, will also be in the mix throughout the weekend\, performing at several official regional conference events. \n \nA Soundtrack for the Moment \nAt the heart of the night is Nadia Tellis\, a talented vocalist known for her soulful sound and dynamic live performances across Alabama. Her ability to blend R&B\, soul\, and contemporary hits makes her the perfect complement to the evening’s aesthetic. \nWhile Nadia delivers the live entertainment\, DJ Chocolate will do what she does best—set the tone. Known for her ability to read a room and build an experience\, she’s curating a musical journey that moves seamlessly from smooth grooves to high-energy favorites. \nPowered by Women of AKA \nOne of the most unique elements of Pink Skies is the foundation behind it. \nThe event is powered by a collective of women—all members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority\, Inc.—bringing their talents together to create something intentional and elevated: \n\nPhaith “DJ Chocolate” Frazier – Founder of Grown and Greek® and the Grown and Greek Podcast\, DJ Chocolate is the architect of the event and will set the vibe for the night.\nNadia Tellis – A multi-talented creative working across the entertainment and fashion industries as a makeup artist and live performer\, Nadia—along with her band—will deliver the perfect show for a nightcap experience.\nBernadine Birdsong – Owner of Michael’s Restaurant and Bar Sebastian\, adds exceptional hospitality rooted in Birmingham excellence.\nMarika N. Johnson – Award-winning photojournalist and creator of Musically Speaking\, a popular event-based photography platform\, Marika will be on site capturing the night through still imagery.\n\nIn addition\, a strong host committee made up of sorority members is helping bring the vision to life\, ensuring the event reflects both the culture and the moment. \nDivine Nine Energy on the Rooftop \nPink Skies will also bring together members from across the Divine Nine\, with local fraternity members expected to be in attendance. It’s a cross-organizational celebration—one rooted in connection\, culture\, and community. \nAdding to the night’s energy\, B’Ham Men’s Fashion Week visionary Mr. Perry Varner is also expected to be in attendance\, along with models\, patrons\, and special invited guests\, following his Saturday night fashion event at WorkPlay. Their presence will bring an additional layer of style and cultural influence to the Pink Skies experience. Mr. Varner is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity\, Inc. \nPlus Pink Inspired Cocktails \nAdding to the elevated experience\, guests can enjoy a selection of pink-inspired signature cocktails curated by Mr. Greg Freeman\, who is also member of a Divine Nine Organization (Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity\, Inc.). The specialty cocktails will feature Corazón Tequila with creations like the Pink Skies Paloma\, Velvet Sky Margarita\, and Runway Rosé Spritz. The cocktail lineup not only complements the rooftop aesthetic but also adds a refined\, celebratory touch to the evening’s overall vibe. \nPrelude to Vegas \nPink Skies also carries a bigger energy. \nThe event is being billed as a “Prelude to Vegas\,” as many regional attendees prepare to travel to Las Vegas later this summer for the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority\, Inc. Boule—the organization’s international conference. That forward-looking energy adds another layer to the night. \n“This isn’t just the end of a weekend—it’s the beginning of what’s next\,” says DJ Chocolate. “As we look ahead to Las Vegas\, I wanted to create something here that not only caters to my sorority sisters but also embraces the community at large.
