The Dannon Project, Dr. Robert Agee at Lemak Sports Medicine have assembled to develop the First Responder’s / Sports Medicine Summer Experience Invite Birmingham area youth to participate in a new experience. The three day camp aims to promote sports medicine careers and increase youth responsiveness in emergencies. The aim of the program is to provide a broad range of high school student’s grades 9th-12th particularly those in the Birmingham City School systems to participate in three days of career exploration, sports medicine and emergency management preparation.
The First Responder’s / Sports Medicine Summer Experience will allow participants carry out hands-on science activities encompassing topics from CPR, Sports Medicine, Injury prevention and disaster preparedness.
The Camp will be held July 8-10, 2015 from 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m at the Legion Field. Participation in the Camp is free for all Birmingham City School students and all campers on a first come basis. All parents of non-Birmingham City School students may be responsible for lunch, travel, and t-shirt fees as part of a $135 registration. Participants attending the Camp can be dropped off at Legion Field between 7:30am and 8:00am each day. Parents/guardians are expected to promptly pick up their child/ren at 5:00pm. Parents are requested to provide an e-mail address where relevant details will be sent in the event of such changes.
Registration for all interested participants commences on June 18, 2015. The deadline for all registration forms is June 26, 2015. Confirmations of participant registration in the Camp will be sent out via e-mail by July 1, 2015.
