Bistro on 19th Continues Its Mission of Community Impact With Two Powerful Events in Bessemer
Bessemer’s own Bistro on 19th continues to prove that it is far more than a restaurant — it’s a hub for community connection, service, and meaningful engagement. Over the past week, Bistro on 19th hosted two major community-centered events that brought together local leaders, business owners, city and county employees, seniors, families, and volunteers for fellowship, support, and service.
Both events underscore the restaurant’s growing role as a gathering place dedicated to uplifting the people of Jefferson County and beyond.
Latch & Live Foundation Hosts FEED 500 at Bistro on 19th

Tuesday, November 25, 2025 — Bessemer, Alabama
The Latch & Live Foundation partnered with Bistro on 19th to host its annual FEED 500 initiative — a community-wide effort dedicated to serving warm meals to individuals and families in need. The event, held at 109 19th Street North, brought together volunteers, supporters, and local leaders with one mission in mind: to ensure no one in the community goes hungry during the holiday season.
City Councilor for District 2 Chester W. Porter and School Board Member for District 2 Terry E. Dawson were among the local officials lending their support. Their presence highlighted the importance of civic involvement and underscored how local leadership can positively impact community-driven work.
From 11 AM to 2 PM, hundreds of plates were served, stories were exchanged, and Bistro on 19’s staff and volunteers demonstrated remarkable hospitality. Events like this continue to reflect the heart of Bessemer — neighbors helping neighbors, organizations stepping up, and businesses opening their doors to support the people they serve.
The event was not only for those in need, but for the community at large. Employees from the city and county, along with local business owners, stopped by to fellowship and enjoy a warm pre-Thanksgiving meal together.
