From the Outside Looking In: A limited blog series on the Birmingham 2025 Mayoral Race

We don’t typically post political items on Urbanham.com (outside of paid campaigns) but we are talking about the Birmingham Mayor’s race only because it matters – not just to the city, but to people we know and to the broader future of Alabama. With one of the largest African American populations in the South, Birmingham holds cultural, historical, and economic weight. We want to see the city continue to thrive returning to the vibrancy, opportunity, and pride that once made it Alabama’s largest and most influential city. This includes more than just Downtown and Entertainment Districts but those inner city communities that are often neglected.

In a digital age clouded by negativity, memes, and misinformation, our goal is to cut through the noise and offer voters real, balanced insight into all of the candidates. We do not endorse any individual, but we strongly believe in honest, transparent leadership and elections grounded in integrity. When elections turn into smear campaigns, the people lose and voter participation suffers. We’re here to do our part by shining light, not casting shadows.

In this limited blog series our goal is to push through the negativity and smear optics and share the platforms presented by the candidates. We will also focus heavily on the issues that have been voiced by voters and business owners.

We are not here to debate but just to pull the records and platform of each candidate and share what we find with our voting audience. We also hope that this series helps to increase voter participation.
