Brother Let’s Talk in Partnership with Birmingham Cares To Host Tribute Concert to Donny Hathaway
During Mental Health Awareness Month
Birmingham, AL – Brother Let’s Talk, an organization dedicated to promoting mental health awareness and support for men of color, alongside Birmingham Cares is proud to announce a special tribute concert honoring the late Donny Hathaway in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month. The concert, scheduled for Friday, May 26, 2024, will take place at the Uptown Jazz Lounge in Birmingham, AL.
Donny Hathaway, a soul singer and songwriter, battled with mental illness throughout his life. In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, Brother Let’s Talk is hosting this concert to celebrate Hathaway‘s musical legacy while raising awareness about mental health issues in the community.
The concert will feature performances by acclaimed artist Frank McComb, known for his soulful sound and musical prowess. In addition, Donnita Hathaway, daughter of Donny Hathaway and Founder of The Donny Hathaway Legacy Project, will be the special guest in the evening. The legacy project is dedicated to honoring Hathaway‘s memory and providing mental health resources, education, and support for creative artists and those in need.
