Celebrating 30 Years of American Entertainment Group (AEG) — A Legacy of Live Music in Birmingham
For 30 years, American Entertainment Group (AEG) has been one of the most influential concert promotion companies in Birmingham and across the Southeast, building a powerful legacy of live music, culture, and community impact. Since its founding, AEG has been responsible for bringing some of the most beloved R&B, soul, hip-hop, blues, and Southern soul artists to Birmingham stages, helping to shape the city’s reputation as a premier destination for live entertainment.
AEG was founded and continues to be led by D. Tarver and Calvin Evans, two promoters who come from a lineage of entertainment and music promotion, carrying forward a tradition of producing shows that center Black audiences, Black music, and Black economic power. Their work has helped generations of fans experience unforgettable performances while creating major opportunities for artists, venues, and local businesses.
Over three decades, AEG has consistently delivered concerts that bring people together — from classic R&B legends to modern Southern soul stars — making Birmingham a must-stop market for touring acts. Through festivals, headlining concerts, and community-focused productions, AEG has played a key role in keeping live music vibrant and accessible in the Magic City.
A Legacy of Music in Birmingham
Throughout its 30-year run, AEG has presented countless concerts featuring nationally recognized and regionally beloved artists across multiple genres. Their shows have helped keep R&B, soul, blues, and Southern soul at the center of Birmingham’s entertainment culture, while also supporting DJs, hosts, promoters, and production teams who make live music possible.
AEG’s productions don’t just entertain — they fuel the local economy, drawing visitors to downtown Birmingham, filling hotels and restaurants, and creating business for venues like the BJCC Concert Hall and other major performance spaces.
