CCDN Prom 2026 Creates a Night to Remember for Birmingham Youth
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — For many teenagers, prom is a rite of passage—a night filled with excitement, photographs, music, dancing, and memories that last a lifetime. For the young people served by the Community Care Development Network (CCDN), this year’s CCDN Prom delivered all of those experiences and more.
Held at the 23rd Street VIP Center in downtown Birmingham, the 2026 CCDN Prom transformed the venue into an elegant celebration space where students had the opportunity to dress up, enjoy great food, dance with friends, and experience a memorable evening designed just for them.

The event was coordinated by Dorothea Hartley of Hart Favor, whose attention to detail helped create a welcoming and festive atmosphere throughout the venue. The vibrant décor, warm ambiance, and elegant presentation created a setting where students could enjoy an unforgettable prom experience surrounded by friends, family, and supporters.
DJ Chocolate provided the sounds with plenty of support for the young attendees who kept the requests coming.

While the event was filled with fun, laughter, and memorable moments, the CCDN Prom represents something much larger than a single evening.
Founded and led by Dr. Tamika Holmes, the Community Care Development Network has become one of the areas most impactful organizations dedicated to helping young people overcome barriers and achieve success. CCDN works with youth and young adults by providing educational support, workforce development opportunities, life skills training, mentorship, and individualized guidance designed to help participants navigate challenges and build brighter futures.

The organization’s model focuses on meeting young people where they are while helping them develop the tools necessary to become self-sufficient and successful adults. Through personalized support systems, mentorship, academic assistance, career exploration, and workforce readiness programs, CCDN creates pathways to success that extend far beyond the classroom.
One of the things that sets CCDN apart is its hands-on approach to education and career preparation. Under the leadership of Dr. Holmes and her dedicated staff, participants receive both academic instruction and practical workforce training that prepares them for careers in high-demand industries. Students are exposed to valuable trade and technical skills, employment readiness training, and opportunities that help bridge the gap between education and the workforce.

This practical approach has helped countless young people gain confidence, develop marketable skills, and successfully transition into employment opportunities that can change the trajectory of their lives.
The organization also relies on strong community partnerships and annual fundraising efforts to sustain and expand its programs. Each year, CCDN hosts fundraising initiatives that allow supporters, businesses, and community leaders to invest directly in the lives of the young people it serves. These events help provide resources for educational programming, workforce development initiatives, mentoring opportunities, and life-enriching experiences such as the annual prom.
For many of the youth served by CCDN, traditional high school experiences are not always accessible. Events like prom become much more than a social gathering—they become opportunities to create memories, build confidence, and experience milestones that many young people often take for granted.

Whether it is attending prom, celebrating a graduation, participating in workforce training, or preparing for a career, CCDN understands that every young person deserves the chance to experience achievement, belonging, and hope for the future.
As the music played, cameras flashed, and students filled the dance floor, the 2026 CCDN Prom served as a powerful reminder that changing lives sometimes starts with creating opportunities for young people to simply be young people. Through events like this and the life-changing programs that support them year-round, CCDN continues to demonstrate why it has become such a vital part of the Birmingham community.
For the students who attended, the evening was exactly what the event promised—a night to remember. For CCDN, it was another example of its ongoing mission to ensure that every young person has the opportunity to learn, grow, celebrate, and succeed.
Let’s do our part and support CCDN
For twelve years, CCDN has proven that when a community invests in its young people and families, the return is measured not only in numbers, but in lives changed, opportunities created, and futures restored.

As CCDN continues to transform lives across Jefferson County, community support remains critical to its mission. On Saturday, June 6, 2026, the organization will celebrate twelve years of service during its “Crowned in Purpose” Gala at the Trussville Civic Center. The black-tie event will bring together community leaders, partners, and supporters for an evening of reflection, inspiration, live entertainment, a curated silent auction, and powerful stories from the families whose lives have been impacted by CCDN’s work. This year’s program will feature keynote speaker Dr. Michael Wesley along with special remarks from Alabama State Representative Rolanda Hollis. Over the past year alone, CCDN has served nearly 49,000 households, distributed more than 336,000 pounds of food, and helped credential hundreds of students through Inspire Education Academy. Those interested in supporting CCDN’s mission can attend the gala, become a sponsor, make an in-kind contribution, or donate directly to help sustain programs such as the Community Food Hubs, Youth Mentoring initiatives, Fatherhood Initiative, and Inspire Education Academy.
