CCDN Hosts Empowering “Parents Helping Parents Summit” in Center Point
The Community Care Development Network (CCDN) brought families together for a powerful day of connection, learning, and support during its 2026 Parents Helping Parents Summit, held on Saturday, April 18, in Center Point, Alabama.
Designed to strengthen families and uplift parents, the summit focused on family dynamics, parent empowerment, and building healthier households. The event also aligned with Child Abuse Prevention Month, reinforcing the importance of education, awareness, and community support systems for parents across the region with support from partners with the Children’s Trust Fund.
Throughout the day, attendees engaged in a series of impactful workshops and discussions led by dynamic speakers. Among the highlights was Zashnetta M. Hollis of “Plenty in Her Purse,” who delivered a message centered on self-care, personal growth, and the importance of parents prioritizing their own well-being as they pour into their families. Participants were encouraged to reframe their mindset, embrace their value, and move forward with intention.

Another standout session featured Mr. Ralph’s “Inside Out” discussion, which challenged attendees to reflect inwardly while building stronger external relationships within their households. The summit also created space for meaningful networking, allowing parents to connect, share experiences, and build a support system rooted in encouragement and accountability.

In addition to educational sessions, CCDN incorporated interactive and wellness-based activities, including a calming paint session designed to promote relaxation and mental clarity. The event also included several giveaways, with up to $1,500 in total support distributed, including a $500 utility assistance award, providing tangible relief to families in attendance.

What made the event especially impactful was the sense of community. Many participants, including organizers, are actively involved in CCDN’s programs, creating an authentic environment where support is both given and received. The organization continues to foster spaces where parents feel seen, heard, and empowered.
As part of its ongoing efforts, CCDN also announced the launch of a new support group for single mothers, in partnership with Plenty in Her Purse, further expanding resources for families in need.
