Alabama Greek Picnic Weekend Returns to Birmingham for Four Days of Fellowship, Entertainment and Community Impact

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Members of the Divine Nine and supporters from across Alabama and beyond are preparing to return to the Magic City as the 9th Annual Alabama Greek Picnic Weekend takes place August 20–23, 2026.

Recognized as one of Alabama’s premier gatherings celebrating Black Greek Letter Organizations, the weekend combines networking, entertainment, community engagement, worship, and fellowship while serving as a fundraiser benefiting the Alabama Greek Foundation. The event is open to the public and welcomes both fraternity and sorority members, as well as supporters who simply want to experience one of Birmingham’s signature summer weekends.

The weekend officially begins on Thursday, August 20, with Meet & Greek R&B Vibes at Cassanova Restaurant & Bar. The kickoff event gives attendees an opportunity to reconnect with old friends, network with new faces, and enjoy an evening of classic R&B in a relaxed atmosphere.

On Friday, August 21, the energy shifts into high gear with two signature events. Alumni and graduate chapter members can gather for the Official D9 Link Up at PRVLGE Bar & Lounge, while the evening continues with the BAMA Greek Invasion, one of the weekend’s largest nightlife experiences celebrating Divine Nine culture and fellowship.

The centerpiece of the weekend arrives on Saturday, August 22, as The 9th Annual Alabama Greek Picnic takes over Sloss Furnaces National Historic Landmark from 5:00 p.m. until midnight. Guests can expect an evening filled with food trucks, vendors, live entertainment, strolling, games, networking, tailgating, music, and the annual ALGP Stroll Off Competition. Organizers say the picnic continues to serve as the weekend’s signature event while raising funds to support scholarships and charitable initiatives through the Alabama Greek Foundation.

The celebration concludes on Sunday, August 23, beginning with worship at Rock City Church before attendees wrap up the weekend at the popular Never Leave on Sunday Funday day party, giving visitors one final opportunity to celebrate before heading home.

Since its founding, Alabama Greek Picnic has grown into one of the state’s largest gatherings of Divine Nine members, attracting alumni, undergraduates, families, and friends from throughout Alabama and neighboring states. In addition to providing a memorable social experience, the weekend also generates economic activity for Birmingham through hotel stays, restaurants, transportation, retail shopping, and entertainment while showcasing the city’s hospitality to visitors from across the region.
