Boney James Bringing His Signature Smooth Jazz Sound to Birmingham’s Lyric Theatre

BIRMINGHAM, AL — Birmingham jazz lovers, here’s another concert to put on your calendar!

Four-time GRAMMY-nominated saxophonist Boney James is bringing his signature blend of contemporary jazz, R&B and soul to Birmingham for a special night at the historic Lyric Theatre on Sunday, November 15, 2026 at 8 p.m.

For more than three decades, James has built a career around a sound that crosses musical boundaries, combining smooth and contemporary jazz with elements of R&B, soul and funk. The veteran saxophonist has developed a loyal following while becoming one of contemporary jazz’s most recognizable performers.

The Birmingham concert also comes on the heels of James’ new project, A Simple Man, scheduled for release on October 2.

The historic Lyric Theatre should provide an ideal setting for the show. Located at 1800 3rd Avenue North in downtown Birmingham, the restored theater offers an intimate environment that should be perfect for an evening of live jazz, R&B and soul.

Whether you’ve followed Boney James throughout his career or you’re simply looking for a great date-night concert in downtown Birmingham, this is one to put on the calendar.
